Meet The Masters is a PTA sponsored art program designed to provide our students with a balanced program consisting of Academics, Athletics, and Arts. The arts portion of our program provides students with lessons where they learn about an artist they are studying for the month. They also participate in an art activity in which they get to explore their creativity and talent.
The program is built around three components:
1. Assemblies: Introducing the Masters
Students attend an assembly where they learn about the fascinating lives and famous works of the Master Artist for the month. Questions and multi-media content keep the students engaged while they walk through a virtual museum filled with interesting stories and facts about each artist.
2. Teachers Workshop: Learning from the Masters:
Now that the children have a true connection to the artist, it is time to introduce the techniques which made the art revolutionary. At the end of the day the teachers participate in a workshop in which they learn the techniques to create in the style of the artist who has been chosen for that month. They create a sample that they take back to their classroom to share with the students.
3. Art Projects: Working with the Masters
The teachers, after learning the techniques of the Master Artist, will transform the classroom into an art studio where they will lead their future artists on a step-by-step journey through the art project. The students will discover their creativity while developing confidence in their own unique abilities.
Samples of our student's art work can be seen below.
